RELL and Dextre: locating external ammonia leaks on the ISS

Mechanism and experiments

RELL combines a mass spectrometer and vacuum pressure gauge. Dextre positions the tool outside the ISS to survey gas signals. NASA records successful ammonia-leak localisation and external storage in RiTS.

02 / CONTEXT

Test conditions and scope

RELL supplies detection and localisation results to identify the maintenance site. Repair is undertaken in subsequent maintenance work.
