01 / STUDY

Mechanism and experiments

NASA and CSA used Dextre and dedicated tools on the RRM module to demonstrate cutting lock wires, removing caps, connecting a hose and transferring fluid. A major transfer test was completed in 2013.

02 / CONTEXT

Test conditions and scope

The experiment used a dedicated external ISS module and ethanol as a fuel substitute, with ground operators controlling the work. It demonstrated interface servicing and fluid transfer rather than propellant replenishment of an operational satellite.
